Jazz Evenings Szentendre – Szabolcs Olah: The Silent Call
June 2, 2023 / 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
The guitarist Szabolcs Oláh takes us into the depths of his unique world with his soulful, fabulous music. The multi-award-winning composer’s latest album, featuring his suite The Silent Call, was released at the end of the year. To write the piece, the composer studied classical and modern string quartets, including their influence on jazz music. The symbolic structure of the sophisticated suite is a series of stations on a meditative path, which the composer drew from Western spiritual science. From all this, he has created a gripping, soul-stirring, serene programme. Oláh’s partners are outstanding musicians of the Hungarian jazz scene, and the string quartet is the Junior Príma award-winning Accord Quartet. “For me, Silent Call is a well-composed suite with a clean performance. It is a recording of impeccable professionalism and warm-heartedness.” wrote Howard Mandel, President of the American Jazz Journalists Association.
